6.1.20 - Today's learning at home

Pencil Control

Choose 1 of the worksheets from the document below to practise your pencil control.

If you cannot print, draw and colour a special picture - this is good for pencil control too!

Phonics

Use the document below to impress your grown ups with all the letters and sounds that you know!

Then, we would like you to practise writing tricky words 'to' and 'the'. You can do this in any way you like. Maybe you could make the words out of playdoh or write them in rainbow colours?

Morning challenge:

Today, we would like you to use the link below to watch the story of 'Supertato'.

Then, your challenge is to design your own fruit or vegetable character. Draw it in your red learning at home book, or on any paper you have at home. Perhaps you'll create a princess pea or a silly sprout? I wonder what super powers your vegetable will have?

Once you have drawn your character, you could work with your grown-up to write a story together all about your hero. Grown-ups may need to do most of the writing, but children can definitely show off some of the letters and sounds they know!!

Hopefully you will be able to share them with us later in the week!

Maths Meeting

Yesterday you may have enjoyed learning about 'How to Catch a Star' by Oliver Jeffers.

For today's maths challenge, can you complete the challenge below, counting stars on tens frames?

Heroes - Afternoon challenge

Over the next couple of weeks, we are going to be thinking and learning about 'heroes'. We are going to talk to you about this when we see you on Teams later in the week.

For this afternoon's challenge, we want you to think about ways that you (children) can be a hero?

From helping with the cleaning to drawing a picture to cheer someone up the possibilities are endless!!

Once you've thought about your ideas, you could actually do one!

Then, choose one (or more) of the activities below to have a go at.

- Draw a picture of you being a hero

- Make a badge for yourself or a hero in your family

- Design a cape for a hero

Remember in Reception lots of learning happens through play, so we hope you spend some time playing together too!

We are very excited to see you all when we can meet on Teams later on this week!!!!
