At Pokesdown Primary School we run an active School Council.
Each class chooses a member to represent them for a period of one year and these representatives meet every week with a Senior Teacher and/or the Headteacher and other members of teaching staff as necessary for different projects etc. First of all the Minutes from the previous meeting are read to the members and, after discussing them, the meeting turns its' attention to pre-determined topics eg. Do You Feel Safe at School? Members will have asked the question of their classmates and will come prepared to share and discuss any problems that have been brought to their attention.
It is an honour to be chosen to represent your class and, as deputies are also chosen, there is always a full contingent of representatives to take part in each meeting.
