Pokesdown Community Primary School – Weekly Briefing 24th July 2024
Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope that you all managed to watch The One Show last night – it was fantastic watching Chef Russ receive his award and to see the school on the television – it looked amazing. Mr Biddle and I listened to Chef Russ being interviewed on Radio Solent for Dorset this morning. If you were dropping off at about 8.45am you might have heard the latest from Cold Play, we were making sure we didn’t miss Chef Russ! Then, we all watched Chef Russ on the Morning Show – I am sure you will agree that his cooking and dancing skills are both excellent!
Thank you for your amazing support at Sports Day yesterday – it was a really fantastic event and the weather was certainly ideal for us. All of the children competed well and you were a great team of supporters. We will announce the winning team next week in assembly. As I said yesterday – big thanks go to Mrs Davenport, Mrs Wilder and the PE team who were at the stadium yesterday setting up at 6.45am.
This morning our Year 6 and Year 4 and 5 choirs sang in the choir competition at Christchurch Priory. All I can say is…Wow, what a morning! The children had to sing in front of an audience that was made up of their own parents, as well as children and parents from other schools across Bournemouth and Poole. They were marked by a judge who then gave feedback to each team. The children sang brilliantly and I am incredibly pleased and proud to say that our Year 6 choir was highly commended and our Year 4 and 5 choir gained third prize. This is such an amazing achievement for our very first time entering the competition. I am incredibly grateful for the all of the effort Mrs Harrison Poole puts into our choir. Not only does she play the piano for the choir – she also conducts!
Have a fantastic weekend.
Ali Bayliss and The Pokesdown Team
