Weekly briefing 20.05.24

Pokesdown Community Primary School – Weekly Briefing – 20th May

Dear Parents and Carers,

Our Year 6 have had their SATS last week, and the rest of the school have made sure they have been really quiet when moving round the school. Year 6 were also amazing!! I can hardly believe that this week is the last week of this half term. There are a few outcomes in the week ahead and Year 3, Year 4 and Year 6 have got trips out.

Last week the Food Safety Inspector from BCP Council visited to inspect the kitchen. These inspections take place regularly and are always unannounced. The inspector was really impressed with everything that she saw and she awarded our kitchen team with a 5 – which is the highest score possible. She said that she would be very happy to eat the food that is prepared by the kitchen team. We are so pleased with this result and it is testament to the incredible kitchen that Chef Russ, Chef Matt, Kelly and Dani run.

As you all know, we have an amazing library at the heart of our school, we also have a fantastic public library at the end of the road. In fact, we live in a town where there are many branch libraries that serve our local communities. The council has launched a consultation about the future of the library service and as this is such a valuable experience it would be great if as many of you as possible could fill in the consultation process. We have included the link below. https://haveyoursay.bcpcouncil.gov.uk/libraries

We will be sending out the school newsletter on Friday – we know you are going to love finding out about all the learning that has been happening since we came back after Easter. We have added some new dates, including dates for our Summer Fair, The Summer Festival Concert and our Silent Disco and Pizza event. Please put the dates in your diaries and we hope we will see lots of you and the children at them.

The last date for ordering the class photos from Frasers is Friday 24th May 2024. They will then be delivered to school after half term. We hope you have all enjoyed the long weekend.
