26.9.19 Predator Tournament at Littledown Centre

On Thursday 26th September 2019, eight Year 5 and 6 boys represented our school in the Predator tournament at the Littledown Centre.

The tournament started with a tough game against St. Katherine’s. The boys defended really well in the first half including an incredible goal-saving tackle from Jack. A goal to St. Katherine’s just before half-time was against the run of play, they went on to win the game 4 – 0.

Muscliff were our next opponents and in a hard fought game with some great attacking play from Pokesdown and many excellent chances, the ball just wouldn’t go in the net. A goal in the second half for Muscliff meant they came out 1 – 0 winners.

By this point we had improved dramatically and a win felt within touching distance. We hoped this would come in our next game against Jewell Academy. It was all Pokesdown in the first half until Jewell scored to go 1 – 0 up. Our amazing team spirit meant that we did not give up.  Some fantastic teamwork in midfield lead to a well-taken goal for Pokesdown from the excellent Myles. The second half was a great battle with both teams having great chances. Unfortunately, it was Jewell, who put the last chance away to win the game 2-1.

Our last game was against St Martin’s School. St Martin’s went ahead in the first half scoring a wonder goal from a free-kick. Another St. Martin’s goal followed but as in the other fixtures, we kept on battling which lead to a wonderful Pokesdown goal by Brian. A draw was in touching distance but sadly we just ran out of time and our opponents took the game 2-1.

Although we did not manage to get a point, the team were really fantastic. Their team spirit and collaboration was terrific and they improved significantly, as each game passed. We are confident that our next game will end in a win!

Well done to all who took part: Albert, Jack, Joshua, Brian, Davis, Myles, Zeki and Benas.
