4. How will both you and I know how my child/young person is doing and how will you help me to support my child’s/young person’s learning?

All children at Pokesdown receive an Annual Report.  You are formally invited to attend parent’s afternoons/evenings with their class teacher three times a year.  This enables progress to be discussed and reviewed.  Staff are always willing to share ideas of how you can support your child at home during these meetings.  If your child has an Individual Education Plan (IEP), targets will be reviewed and new ones discussed.  The Special Educational Needs/ Disabilities Co-ordinator (SENDCo), Jenny Wright, is also available at these consultations.

 

If your child has an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) or Statement, they will also have an Annual Review.   This is a formal review of the year and allows planning to take place for the following year.

 

If any outside agencies come in to work with your child, you will be invited in to receive feedback on this and many ideas can be shared of practical ways to support your child’s learning.

 

Parents/carers’ involvement in children’s learning is important at Pokesdown (Class teachers are always willing to discuss home learning with you).  Our Parent Support Worker also arranges regular courses to offer different strategies to support your child at home.
